Our Projects
The Garden Club manages a number of garden projects on the Mendocino Coast.
The Fort Bragg Garden Club maintains and supports several sites throughout the community, each reflecting our commitment to native plants and public green space. Members volunteer their time and expertise to keep these spaces thriving for the whole community to enjoy.

Silver Gate Native Plant Display
Developed in collaboration with California State Parks, Silver Gate is a native plant display garden at the southern end of MacKerricher State Park. Club volunteers maintain this stretch of coastal headlands along the park’s accessible trail, restoring and showcasing native plant habitat to support local biodiversity and demonstrate the beauty and resilience of California native species in their natural coastal setting.
The video presentation, below, describes the creation process, and the highlighted species in this document were planted.

Guest House Garden
Tucked beside Fort Bragg’s historic Guest House - an 1892 redwood landmark and home to the Fort Bragg-Mendocino Coast Historical Society - the Bee Garden (formerly known as Fern Garden) pairs lush, shade-loving plantings with a renewed focus on native species that support local pollinators. It’s a quiet, green retreat in one of the town’s most visited spots, and a hands-on demonstration of how native plants can create thriving habitat right in the community.
